Rescue Centers – Spain

Tina Solera runs Galgos Del Sol, a Spanish-based rescue center.

The following shelters based in Spain specialize in the initial rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of Galgos and Podencos:

112 Carlota Galgos: A Spanish-based non-profit center that rescues, heals and arranges adoptions for Galgos in need.

Casa de Postas : Casa de Postas is a small animal shelter located in the town of Almonte, which is supported solely by donations. Within an agricultural environment close to the Doñana National Park, our rescued share the refuge with their caretakers living in semi freedom.

Galgos Del Sol: A large Spanish rescue center dedicated to the rescue of Galgos, Podencos and other breeds started by British ex-pat Tina Solera in 2007. Their website offers a wide variety of ways to get involved, including adoptions, volunteer programs, sponsorship initiatives and donations.

Ibizan Hound Rescue: A Spanish based non-profit that focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating & rehoming Spanish hunting dogs.

Last Chance Animal Rescue: Based in the Malaga region of Southern Spain, the mission of our charity is to find loving forever homes for the huge number of abandoned animals coming into the El Paraiso perrera (pound).

Perros sin Casa: Dog rescue organisation in Almeria, South eastern Spain. Abandoned, maltreated dogs and puppies are taken in to be brought back to full health for adoption

Podenco Friends: A site dedicated to rescuing and providing sanctuary to the abandoned Podencos of Spain to allow them time to heal and learn to trust again in readiness for their forever homes.

Podencos All Over Spain: An organization based in Spain solely dedicated to the rescue, adoption, and transport for Podencos.

Scooby Medina: A Spanish-based shelter and sanctuary, that has been providing a home to mistreated and abandoned animals for more than 30 years. It was created thanks to the initiative of a group of women who wanted to do something about the amount of abandoned dogs in the area of Medina del Campo (Valladolid).

The Spanish-based shelters work very closely with animal support groups throughout Europe, UK, USA and Canada.  This includes coordinating the logistics of each adoption.
